Drawing on the categories used in the poetry of Karol Wojtyla (Blessed John Paul II), the author of the article employs antinomy to characterize Milosz as a person and Milosz as a poet. The analysis of the selected poems confirms the assumed hypothesis because it leads to the conclusion that Milosz's poetry reveals the co-existence of motifs that highlit the sensual beauty of life and sometimes also anti-beaty (love, food, drinks, etc.), various bodily pleasures amazingly described by all five senses, and evident preference to reflect on existential, cultural and metaphysical themes.
